The Sands of Time

We all must face it at some point. Time constantly pushes against us, and the inevitability of life shows us that our plans may not come into fruition. I've had many ideas of what my life would be like, but I was diseased with being physically unattractive and socially awkward for most of my youth (thankfully, I got over being socially awkward) I know see myself in a different position than before, and with it has come different opportunities. I feel like I've been the lame kid for far too long, and it is a role that I am damned to play until my end. At least I have a kind and supportive mate to spend my life with, and without her I do not know what I would do. Amy, I know you will probably be the only one to read this, so just know that that last sentence was about you. But I digress, the sands of time are trapping me. I'm only 21, but I feel as if my opportunities to be a young man are passing much quicker than I thought they would. My schedule and responsibilities are only a small part of it, I alone must accept the vast bulk of the blame. I've always wanted to be able to look back on my life and smile knowing that, no matter what it was, no matter how stupid of an idea it turned out to be, I did it. That I will be able to leave this world without ever wondering "what's that like," or "I wonder..." So I have decided to gather a list of things that I have never done, but have held at least a faint curiosity about. This list, when completed, will probably get me in serious trouble, but I fear this may be my last chance to strike back at time, so I can look at my teenage children yelling at me because I don't know what it's like, and smile back, thinking to myself, "If these little bastards only knew." I encourage all others who read this (both of you) to do this in your own lives, hold no reservations, leave nothing out, don't be shy, and don't fear what others will say. If you seek the approval of others, you will be there slave, we will only be young once, and it is imperative that we use this time to do the things that the mature adult world will most likely not allow to happen. And as a great sage once said, "There is a time and a place for everything, and it's called college." I do not know what will become of this, but I know that in doing this I can truly leave nothing behind, and that I will be able to look back upon my life and know that I left nothing behind, undone, and with no regret.
